Not surprisingly, Wal-Mart’s president and CEO Mike Duke made the list. Why? Because Wal-Mart is the world’s largest grocer and, sit down for this, the nation’s No. 1 purchaser of organic foods. In fact, Duke has made a commitment to have Wal-Mart purchase more locally grown produce and he even instituted a program of sourcing sustainably grown produce. However, Duke has also lobbied strenuously to loosen the legal definition of “organic” so that more products can bear that label.
