Michelle Obama
First Lady of the United States and Activist
The First Lady inspired even more popularity for healthy, locally grown foods when she planted a White House Garden in 2009. This presidential garden produced 1,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables just in the first year, and was then expanded by 400 square feet in 2010. The White House garden is a living symbol of Obama’s Let’s Move campaign, an initiative to make school food healthier and reduce childhood obesity. There’s no question, the White House is an authority and we are glad it is advocating for healthier, locally grown foods.
