Fun, fruity margarita recipes

Looking for the perfect accompaniment to your Mexican fiesta with the girls? Add one (or two!) of these fun, fruity margarita recipes to your menu. Mixologists Kim Haasarud and Tomas Delos Reyes share their favorite oh-so-fruity concoctions. Drink up!

Kim Haasarud, mixologist, founder of beverage consultancy Liquid Architecture and author of 101 Margaritas is ready to get your Mexican fiesta started with these three fruity margarita favorites.

Sunrise margarita

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces reposado tequila
  • 1 ounce triple sec
  • 4 ounces orange juice (freshly squeezed)
  • Splash of lemon juice
  • 1/2 ounce grenadine
  • Cherry, for garnish

Directions

  1. Combine the tequila, triple sec, orange juice and lemon juice in a cocktail shaker. Top with ice and shake vigorously.
  2. Strain into a cocktail glass.
  3. Add the grenadine.
  4. Garnish with cherry and serve.

Kiwi Margarita

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces reposado tequila
  • 1 ounce Midori
  • 2 ounces pineapple juice
  • 1/2 ounce lime juice
  • 1 ounce simple syrup
  • 1 kiwi fruit, peeled

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend without ice until smooth.
  2. Add a 1/2 cup of ice and blend for 10 seconds.
  3. Pour contents into cups.
  4. Garnish with additional kiwi slice.

Pineapple ginger margarita

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 ounces 1800 Reposado
  • 3/4 ounce Domaine de Canton Ginger liqueur
  • 5-6 pineapple chunks
  • 1 ounce lime juice
  • 1 1/2 ounces simple syrup
  • Lime squeeze
  • Pineapple leaf
  • Candied ginger

Directions

  1. In a mixing glass, muddle the pineapple chunks with the lime juice and simple syrup.
  2. Add tequila and ginger liqueur.
  3. Top with ice and shake vigorously.
  4. Pour contents into tall glass.
  5. Top with a lime squeeze.
  6. Garnish and serve.

Fresa breeze margarita

Tomas Delos Reyes, mixologist at New York’s Standard Hotel, offers two fruity and fun margaritas to sweeten up your next girls’ night in. Cheers!

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Partida Blanco Tequila
  • 1/2 ounce agave nectar
  • 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 2 strawberries
  • 2 teaspoons diced cucumber
  • Mint sprig (optional)

Directions

  1. Muddle strawberries and agave nectar in a shaker.
  2. Add ingredients and shake over ice.
  3. Strain over ice and top with diced cucumber.
  4. Garnish with mint sprig (optional).

Mad mango margarita

Ingredients

  • 2 ounces Partida Reposado Tequila
  • 1/2 ounce agave nectar
  • 3/4 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce mango puree
  • 2 jalapeno disc/slices

Directions

  1. In shaker, muddle 1 jalapeno disc with agave nectar.
  2. Add ingredients into shaker and shake over ice.
  3. Strain over ice, garnish with jalapeno disc floating on top.
