Most guys love pizza and most guys like barbecue, therefore, most guys should really love this BBQ pizza.
There is a whole gamut of BBQ pizzas out there. Often you get something that is nothing more than BBQ sauce on a pizza crust and other times it turns out to be barbecued meat with traditional red sauce. Both have their benefits, but when combined these two recipes produce an amazing pizza with a slightly sweet sauce, melted cheese, and smoky meat all in one bite. Even better, you can sneak in some veggies and even the most ardent carnivore will eat them.
ingredients for Barbecue pizza
For the crust:
- One medium (think regular or hand tossed) pizza crust
For the sauce:
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 4 tablespoons barbecue sauce
- 1 teaspoon cayenne
For the cheese:
- 1 cup mozzarella
For the toppings:
- 1 cup smoked brisket
- 1 cup smoked chicken
- 1/2 cup smoked sausage
- 1/2 cup frozen corn, thawed
- 1/2 red onion, sliced
- 2 tablespoons dried oregano
Directions
- This one is easy. If you are using a crust mix, follow the package instructions for making and pre-baking it. If your mix does not have pre-baking instructions, bake it for 12 minutes in a 350 degree F oven. If you are using a premade crust, it doesn’t have to be preheated.
- While the crust is baking, mix all of the sauce ingredients and bring to a boil; set aside.
- When it comes to constructing the pizza, begin by slathering sauce on it, then adding the cheese and the toppings; bake until the cheese melts, for about 10 to 12 minutes.
