Craving a slice of decadent cheesecake but don’t have the time to bake? Follow these three easy steps for delicious no-bake cheesecake.
Make — don’t bake — the crust
You can buy premade crust for your cheesecake — graham cracker or chocolate cookie crusts are favorites — in the baking aisle at the grocery store. You can also make a great no-bake crust, though: Just put one package of graham crackers into a large plastic bag, seal it, and then crush the crackers with a rolling pin. Combine the crushed graham crackers in a mixing bowl with 1/2 cup each of sugar and melted butter. Press the mixture into a 9-inch pie pan and let cool.
Prepare the cheesecake
In a large bowl, combine one 8-ounce package of softened cream cheese, one 8-ounce tub of non-dairy whipped topping and 1/2 cup sugar. Blend until smooth. Pour mixture into the cooled no-bake crust, then refrigerate for at least two hours. Remove from refrigerator about 20 minutes before serving.
Add toppings
You can add just about anything to your no-bake cheesecake using homemade or store-bought ingredients. Two classic cheesecake toppings are “turtle” and fruit.
For turtle cheesecake, drizzle caramel and chocolate syrups on top, then add chopped pecans around the edges of the cake.
For fruit cheesecake, top with sliced fresh strawberries and a light sprinkle of sugar, or with crushed pineapple. You also can add a bit of fresh lemon zest for citrus flavor.
