Top 5 recipes for a game day party

Make your game day party memorable with these delicious, classic recipes.

Easy guacamole

Guacamole is the go-to dip for game day. But don’t bore your crowd with the same old guac-and-chips combo: Impress your guests with a fresh way to serve this crowd fave. Whip up your guacamole recipe, as usual. Then slice a baguette into thin pieces. Spread the bread in a single layer on a baking sheet and brush each piece with olive oil. Lightly toast the bread, then spoon guacamole onto each piece. Set out your creations on a tray along with a toppings bar that includes diced tomatoes, fresh cilantro, olives, hot peppers or other garnishes.

Buffalo
chicken wings

Serving size 10

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 20 chicken wings
  • Oil for deep frying
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce
  • 2 dashes ground black pepper
  • 2 dashes garlic powder

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the flour, paprika, cayenne pepper and salt. Place the chicken wings in a large glass bowl and sprinkle the flour mixture over them until they are evenly coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for an hour.
  2. Heat the oil to 375 degrees F. The oil should be just enough to cover the wings entirely, about an inch deep.
  3. Combine the butter, hot sauce, pepper and garlic powder in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir and heat until the butter is melted and the mixture is well blended. Remove the sauce from the heat and set aside.
  4. Fry coated wings in the hot oil for 10 to 15 minutes, or until parts of the wings begin to turn brown. Place the wings in a serving bowl and stir in the hot sauce.

Seven layer dip

For a fun take on the classic seven layer dip recipe, turn the ingredients into bite-sized snackers. Make the dip recipe as usual, but skip the chips. Save time on game day by making the dip in advance. Refrigerate it overnight, then prepare the bread and add the cold dip.
