Tequila lime pie shooters with candy worms
Yields 10-12 servings
Ingredients:
Crust
- 3/4 cup finely crushed pretzels
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup melted butter
Pie
- 1/2 cup fresh-squeezed key lime juice
- 3 tablespoons tequila
- 2 tablespoons Triple Sec
- Zest from one key lime
- 14 ounces sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
Worms
- 5-6 Lemon Tootsie Rolls
- 1 teaspoon cocoa powder
Directions:
Step one
Dip the rims of your shot glasses in water, then dip them in sugar.
Step two
In a bowl, mix together the crushed pretzels with the melted butter and sugar. Put approximately one tablespoon of crust mix into each shot glass, packing firmly with the end of a wooden spoon. Freeze for about two hours.
Step three
After the crusts have hardened, whip the whipping cream until very firm. In a separate bowl, mix all of the other ingredients, then pour it into the whipped cream, folding until well blended.
Step four
Pour the mixture into the shot glasses. Freeze for another two hours.
Step five
To make the worms, heat lemon Tootsie Rolls in the microwave, individually for 8-10 seconds. Split them in half and roll between your hands to form worm shapes. Make worm segments on the Tootsie Roll by rolling them back and forth against the serrated edge of a knife.
Step six
After you’ve carved the segments into all of your worms, dust them in cocoa powder.
Step seven
To garnish, twist them around the necks of mini spoons or have them crawling out of the shot glasses, whatever you desire. They’re too cute and funny to bury them at the bottom of the glass!
