Smoothies are the ultimate vehicle for light, healthy and filling breakfasts (and they also make a great snack!). Here are three delicious smoothies inspired by fall’s bounty.

At this time of year, fall produce is at its peak in terms of both flavor and nutritional value. Smoothies are a perfect way to incorporate seasonal fruits and vegetables into your diet and are a light, filling and healthy breakfast. They’re easy and quick to make, and the entire family will love them!

Apple almond flax smoothie

Makes 1 smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 large apple, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter
  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • Optional: handful of kale

Directions:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a blender.
  2. Puree until smooth and enjoy immediately.

Pumpkin pie smoothie

Makes 1 smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 6 ounces plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/3 cup pumpkin puree (canned works fine but fresh tastes much better)
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup milk (regular or nondairy)

Directions:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a blender.
  2. Puree until smooth and enjoy immediately.

Pear power smoothie

Makes 1 smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 1 very ripe pear, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 frozen banana
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup milk (regular or nondairy)
  • Optional: handful of spinach

Directions:

  1. Combine all the ingredients in a blender.
  2. Puree until smooth and enjoy immediately.
