Homemade vanilla extract recipe
Yields 1/2 cup
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup vodka or bourbon
- 2 vanilla beans (split down the middle)
Directions:
- In a clean jar or bottle, add vanilla beans and pour in vodka or bourbon.
- Cover tightly and store in a cool, dark place for at least 4 weeks. Give the bottle a good shake every couple of days.
- Extract will last for at least a year.
Homemade orange extract recipe
Yields 1/2 cup
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup vodka
- 1 orange peel from a large orange (try to get mostly just the peel not the pith)
Directions:
- In a clean jar or bottle, add orange peel and pour in vodka.
- Cover tightly and store in a cool, dark place for at least 4 weeks. Give the bottle a good shake every couple of days.
- Once extract has reached full flavor, strain out orange peels and store tightly sealed in a bottle with lid.
- Extract will last for at least a year.
Homemade almond extract recipe
Yields 1/2 cup
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup vodka
- 3 tablespoons crushed almonds
Directions:
- In a clean jar or bottle, add crushed almonds and pour in vodka.
- Cover tightly and store in a cool, dark place for at least 4 weeks. Give the bottle a good shake every couple of days.
- Once extract has reached full flavor, strain out almonds (line a strainer with cheesecloth or use a sieve) and store tightly sealed in a bottle with lid.
