The most magical cupcake shops across the nation

4. Sprinkles

Ahhh, a personal favorite. I’ve been known to drive an hour (much more often than once) to satisfy my Sprinkles craving. Sprinkles is what started it all — it’s the world’s first cupcake-only bakery and opened its first store in April of 2005 in Beverly Hills, California. Sprinkles currently has 19 locations nationwide, a Cupcake ATM dispensing cupcakes 24/7, a “Sprinklesmobile” used for catering, and the shop opened a Sprinkles Ice Cream store in 2012. (And a Sprinkles at Disney Springs Orlando is in the works!) Sprinkles founder Candace Nelson is also a judge on the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars. Speaking from personal experience, this sophisticated cupcake truly melts in your mouth and will leave you begging for more.

5. Kyra’s Bake Shop

Kyra’s Bake Shop specializes in gluten-free cupcakes, and with so many people choosing a gluten-free diet, we had to choose a cupcake shop that meets those needs. Formerly known as Crave, Kyra’s Bake Shop is located in Oregon but ships nationwide. Founded by Kyra Bussanich, who’s been gluten-free for years, her goal was to not accept living a life without pastries. She experimented with dozens of gluten-free flours and finally found one that tastes better and lighter than in traditional cupcakes. This means you can enjoy more in one sitting without feeling sick! Flavors range from Mocha Latte to Snickerdoodle to Peanut Butter and Jelly. Even more impressive, Kyra now holds the title as the only four-time winner of Cupcake Wars.

6. Gigi’s Cupcakes

According to founder Gigi Butler, who was seen on CBS’s Undercover Boss, her cupcake shop was born in 2007 after her brother stood waiting in line for two hours to eat a famous cupcake in New York City. Gigi’s brother insisted her cupcakes were better — and worth the wait — so she decided to open her own cupcakery in Nashville with almost no money to her name. Fortunately Gigi’s Cupcakes took off and has since been franchised, with more than 100 locations in 23 states and counting. Gigi’s Cupcakes, baked fresh daily, come in addictive flavors like Raspberry Buckle, gluten-free Strawberries & Cream and Kentucky Bourbon and are available for order online. And for smaller appetites, Gigi sells mini cupcakes too.

7. Sweetness Bake Shop

If you’re looking for good cupcakes in Miami, Sweetness, named the No. 1 cupcake shop by Miami New Times, will not disappoint. Not only is Sweetness Bake Shop diverse with more than 275 flavors, but it’s family-owned and award-winning. Since 2010, the Diaz family has been baking their delicious cupcake treats all with fresh ingredients — including creamy butter, whole-grain flour, fresh fruits and Madagascar bourbon. (Are you drooling yet?) As you would expect from any trendy cupcake shop, Sweetness also allows you to order online.
