Beautiful flower cupcake recipe
Inspired by Glorious Treats
Yields 12 cupcakes
Ingredients:
For the cupcakes:
- 1 cup + 1 tablespoon flour
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2/3 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/2 cup canola oil
- Dash of salt
For the frosting:
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 4-1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 5 tablespoons milk
- Red and blue food coloring
Make & cool cupcakes
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix all of the ingredients together until creamy (no lumps).
Pour mixture into a muffin pan lined with cupcake liners. Bake for about 22-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean.
Make frosting and pipe
Mix the butter, powdered sugar, milk and vanilla. Separate the two batches. Add red and blue to one batch to make a purple and add blue to the other to make a light blue. Stuff the frosting into piping bags and then pipe “petals” using the star or flower-shaped Wilton tip.
Repeat with the blue. If you want a multicolored flower bouquet, pipe a few purple and then a few blue and repeat until the cupcake is topped.
