How to make a mimosa bar

Next time you’re hosting a brunch, a bridal shower or even a baby shower, plan for a mimosa bar. Here’s how to make one in four easy steps!

Any cocktail that’s socially acceptable to drink in the morning is and always will be a favorite of ours. Cue the mimosa! They’re light, fruity, sparkly and perfect for just about any morning occasion — be it a brunch with friends or a wedding shower (or just a regular Sunday!). Next time you’re planning on serving mimosas, create a mimosa bar instead of just serving juice and Champagne. Mimosa bars are affordable and fun, and, if done correctly, they will be the hit of the gathering!

Gather the supplies

The beauty of building your own mimosa bar is the minimal amount of time and materials needed to set it up. First, gather the necessary supplies:

  • Champagne — extra dry works the best since the juice is sweet enough. Divide the number of guests by four and purchase that many bottles. It’s best to have a little extra!
  • Champagne flutes — if you’re hosting a large party, you can purchase two flutes for $1 at your local dollar store.
  • Fruit juice — orange, grapefruit, mango, peach, etc.
  • Fresh fruit, sliced — strawberries, oranges, grapefruit, berries, etc.
  • Short glass vases — used to hold the ice and the sliced fruit.
  • Large glass bottles (optional) — used to hold the juice. Of course, you can simply keep the juice in their original containers.
  • Tongs

Do the prep work

Luckily, when building a mimosa bar, the prep work is minimal. Slice any large fruits into smaller pieces and place in the short glass vases with a spoon. You can use one large wider vase to store all the fruits or separate each fruit into its own vase. Place ice in a short vase as well, with tongs situated on top. Finally, pour the juice into the large glass bottles. Store everything in the fridge, including the Champagne, until you set up the table about 15 minutes prior to the guests arriving.

3

Set the table

Make room on your kitchen countertop or table to set up the mimosa bar. We recommend putting fresh, colorful flowers in a vase to help draw attention to the bar. Prewash and display all Champagne flutes to the left, followed by the short glass filled with ice and tongs, the juice options, the Champagne and, finally, the fresh fruit slices. You can always add a fun tablecloth or table runner to your table or make an old-fashioned sign labeled “Mimosas served here” to place in front of the bar.

4

Enjoy the party!

That’s it — mimosa bars really are that simple, and we love it! This gives you time to mingle with friends and enjoy the party. Your only responsibility with the bar is to make sure to replace the Champagne bottles, juices, ice and fruits as they run out. The bar will be a hit. Since it only takes about 30 minutes to prepare, it’s well worth it!
