Cream-filled mustache cake recipe
Ingredients:
For the cake:
- 1 batch of your favorite chocolate cake (we used this one)
For the filling:
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1-1/2 teaspoons powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
For the chocolate frosting:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, soft
- 2-1/2 cups powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
- 1 can Pillsbury Easy Frost chocolate frosting
Directions:
Make cake batter and filling
Mix the batter according to your favorite recipe.
Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F and grease a circular cake pan with nonstick cooking spray. Make the filling by beating all of the ingredients together with an electric mixer.
Add cake batter and filling to cake pan
Fill the pan with 1/2 of the chocolate cake batter. Top the batter with the filling, using a spatula to spread it evenly over the batter, leaving about an inch edge of chocolate. Pour remaining batter on top of filling and carefully spread.
Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until brown and a toothpick inserted into the chocolate rim of the cake comes out clean.
Cut cake in half into an “S” shape
Using a butter knife, cut an “S” shape into the middle of the cake.
Place half of the mustache on a plate or tray. Flip the other side over (so the tip of the mustache flips upright) and place it next to the other half.
Frost and pipe
Frost each half completely in half of the frosting. Evenly coat both sides of the mustache so they look as smooth as possible.
Once both sides are frosted, use the easy frost to make whiskers (the mustache will then look curly!).
Then slice the cake and serve!
