Holy smokes, these candy-poppin’ bottle rockets are gonna rock your 4th

If there’s any better way to celebrate Independence Day than with a kid-friendly, edible bottle rocket craft, we have yet to find out. This tasty, fun and entertaining Fourth of July treat will keep kids busy all afternoon — though we won’t blame you if you make these explosive sweets for an adults-only barbecue instead.

Just fill drinking straws with Pop Rocks, stack patriotic-colored Life Savers, and add some cone-shaped Airhead candies on top. Kaboom! A clever treat that’s fun and sweet to eat.

Candy-poppin’ bottle rockets for the Fourth of July

Ingredients/Supplies:

  • Red, white or blue straws (Make sure they’re big enough to fill with Pop Rocks and that the holes of your Life Savers fit snugly around the straws.)
  • Pop Rocks
  • Red, white and blue Life Savers (Gummies or regular)
  • Red and blue Airhead candies

Directions:

1. Prepare the Airheads

Cut the Airhead candies into 2-1/2-inch strips, and twist them into cone shapes. Trim the bottom edges evenly with a pair of scissors.
