According to the Huggington Post, Yauch was diagnosed with a tumor in his salivary gland in summer of 2009. He put his recording on hold to take on the biggest fight of his life. Eighteen months after diagnosis, the Beastie Boys star is cancer-free. He owes his recover to an organic, vegan diet and Tibetan medicine.
Beastie Boys tour and movies
Though presently the Beastie Boys have to make sure Yauch is well enough to tour, they do have plans to finish a video, or as fellow Beastie Boy Mike D told BBC Radio One, a film-eo, a cinematic short film.
Ecorazzi reports that the Beastie Boys will most likely all appear at the Sundance Film Festival this month to premiere Fight For Your Right Revisited, a short film with Elijah Wood, Seth Rogen, and Jack Black, among other A-list celebs. Yauch is also slated to finish up the Beastie Boys’ upcoming release Hot Sauce Committee, Part 2, due spring 2011.The first part, which had to be rescheduled, does not have a release date yet.
