New conscious clothing and organic skincare

Just as you’re gearing up to spring clean your closet and cosmetics drawer, we’ve got two new eco-goodies to share. H&M is launching a sustainable but uber-stylish line of clothing while supermodel Gisele Bundchen now has a cruelty-free skincare line to give you the eco-beauty edge (just don’t follow her habit of not wearing sunscreen).

Make a fashion statement with the Conscious Collection

You may recall H&M getting boo’ed for its practice of destoying surplus clothing last year (unworn clothing was found in dumpsters outside their store in Herald Square, NYC), then doing the right thing by donating the clothing to charities, instead. The clothing retailer, who launched the the Garden Collection in March 2010, is introducing another eco-fashion line for women, men, and children called the Conscious Collection, made of organic cotton, organic linen, recycled polyester, and Tencel. The sustainable clothing line, which features various shades of white, will debut in April 2011.

Ecorazzi.com reports that Ann-Sofie Johansson, the head of design for H&M, said, “The possibilities for creating a complete fashion statement with eco smarter materials are huge now. By designing recurring Conscious Collections we have the opportunity to show in a variety of ways what’s possible using more sustainable fabrics.”

Cruelty-free beauty from Gisele Bundchen

Despite Gisele Bundchen giving dermatologists and oncologists reasons for concern because of her comment that sunscreen is “poison”, the supermodel really does have your skin health at heart. The eco-celeb recently launched an animal-friendly organic skincare line called Seeja, which is packaged in recyclable containers that are produced with clean hydro-electronic power and carbon neutral. The Seeja line includes a Day Cream ($70), Night Cream ($70), and Mud Mask ($56), made of natural clay and botanicals. Visit www.seeja.com for ingredient list and purchasing information.
