Meeting some friends at the local pub for a drink? New cocktails that make vegans cringe
Yogurito
Alcoholic yogurt? Even non-vegans may find this offensive. According to The Daily Meal, this creamy liqueur is produced in Holland (and bottled in France) and shipped to Japan, where it is a popular mixer with citrus fruit juices for a spiked-smoothie type of libation.
Scorpion Vodka
The Daily Meal says this insect infused spirit deserves the Booze for Badasses award, which may be appealing to meat (insect?) eaters, but vegans aren’t going to find drinking pleasure in a booze made from Chinese, farm-raised scorpions.
Smoked Salmon Flavored Vodka
With the growing array of flavored vodkas, is it really a surprise that fish-flavored vodka is now available? No thanks, I’ll stick with fruit or vegetable flavored liquor.
Bakon
Vodka seems to be the spirit of choice for animal and insect flavors. The spirit Bakon joins the many other bacon-inspired products that vegans steer from.
Not all new cocktail mixers are verboten. Many are plant-based and cruelty-free. Be sure to read the rest of the World’s 10 Weirdest Spirits.
