11 Incredible maps made of food that look good enough to eat

Travel and food go hand in hand. It’s hard not to think of a place without also thinking of the tastes and flavors you experienced while there. Whether it’s a late-night greasy spoon stop on an epic road trip or a gourmet meal abroad, food evokes memories long after you’ve returned home.

It was their passion for travel that inspired Caitlin Levin and Henry Hargreaves to create incredible maps made of food. “In this series we have taken many of the iconic foods of countries and continents and turned them into physical maps,” they said. “These maps are a playful representation of our interpretation of food from around the world, painstakingly created with real unadulterated food. This project speaks to the universality of how food unites people, brings us together and starts conversation — just as we hope these beautiful maps will do too.”

While some of the foods may not have originated in these countries, they represent a culture we all know and love. South America may be the birthplace of tomatoes, but does any place do spaghetti sauce better than Italy? Or can you say “shrimp on the barbie” without putting on your best Australian accent? No and no.

Take a stroll through these delectable countries and continents, and see if they don’t spark a few memories.
