I don’t know if the brand-new 365 by Whole Foods Market puts something in its coffee, but I’ve never been this jazzed about a grocery store. Actually, I’m rarely excited about anything that takes hundreds of dollars from me on a weekly basis, but after one short visit on the store’s opening day yesterday, I already want to go back. Trader Joe’s has got some serious competition, because 365 by Whole Foods is where it’s at.
Just to be clear, this isn’t bs. No one paid me to write this post, and I have no bias toward the Whole Foods franchise — sure, it’s nice, but too expensive for my pockets.
But all that’s about to change. Between the seriously low prices (they’re working hard to keep the costs down but quality high) and delicious ready-to-go food available for pickup, 365 has a very bright future. Heck, I’ll get in my car and fight 40 minutes of Los Angeles traffic just to get some of the deals and deliciousness it has to offer. Trust me when I say that means a lot! If you’re still not convinced that 365 just introduced us to grocery shopping of the future, here’s a shopping cart’s worth of products that specifically caught my eye.
Coffee wall
The most important breakfast essential — coffee — and 365’s got a whole wall.
Hot ham and cheese biscuit
Behold, my breakfast. 365 has a variety of breakfast sandwiches and tacos; this set me back only $3.28!
Cold breakfast sandwiches
If hot’s not your thing, and you want to save 25 cents, they’ve got some ready-to-go options for you too.
Eggs
Avoiding carbs? Grab the egg white scramble for $6.
Carrot cake oatmeal
You’re craving something sweet, you say? Grab 365’s carrot cake oatmeal. Um, yum! And it’s only $2.39.
Mini quiche
Oh, yes, since my sandwich cost only $3, I will take a mini quiche for $5.
Mini cakes
Speaking of cake… dessert anyone? These mini cakes are $4 to $5.
To-die-for cheesecakes
Cookies & cream cheesecake? This has got to be a joke.
Ready-to-go salads
All right, all right, on to the more healthy stuff. You can grab a full salad also for just $4!
Cobb salad
If you want the Cobb, you’ll have to fork out an extra 50 cents ($4.50 is not bad, y’all. Not bad at all…).
Greens & seeds
I love butternut squash, and I love me salads that cost only $4.
Here it is — the cheese wall!
Remember when I mentioned a coffee wall? Well, they also have a cheese wall with some serious deals.
And available in Veg Valley
That’s what they call it… Veg Valley. These bundles of carrots are only $1.75 each!
Cheapest kale around
Kale for $1, people. It’s the real source of my excitement about this store.
Sushi time
Sushi is the culprit behind my struggling bank account, but at least 365’s got lots of options for $9 to $12 (with wild rice).
Yellowfin tuna
I don’t know if I’ve ever eaten Yellowfin tuna, but for $4 (seeing a trend?), I’ll try anything once!
PB&J
Bring the kiddos to the store (or just love PB&Js?), and scoop one up for $3.50.
Pizza by the slice
Or chow down on a slice of pizza for $3. Heck, really go wild, and grab two slices for $5.
Premade pizza
Pick up some ready-to-bake pizzas for the meat lover, veggie-obsessed or gluten-free celiacs in your life.
Bring the cookie jar
You can get 10 cookies for $5. In case math isn’t your strong suit (mine neither), that’s 50 cents each.
Just to give you a closer look
In case you weren’t entirely sold yet, here’s a close-up.
Cupcakes
If your sweet tooth is craving something more along the lines of a cupcake, these are $1.99.
Chocolate chip fudge sandwich cookie
Fudge! Cookie! Chocolate! Don’t worry about those calories.
TeaBot
What is this contraption? You can make your own custom cup of tea too?
This robot’s supersmart
See that iPad there? You just punch in the flavors you want in your tea, and the robot takes care of the rest.
Wine database
Not sure which wine you want? Let this iPad search for you. You can also order hot dogs, pizzas and bowls to go.
Make a pit stop
Coffee, beer, wine, PBR — whatever you’re craving, 365’s friends are waiting to help you out.
