When you look back on the best days of your childhood, a hot dog was probably there. No, really, hear us out. That first baseball game you went to? You totally ate a hot dog that was as big as your head. When your parents took you to the State Fair, what did you eat? It was for sure a juicy carnival dog. And when you reminisce about every amazing, fireworks-filled Fourth of July, what do you think of? Yup, it’s the hot dogs.
Hot dogs may be a huge part of our youth, but the wienies we were eating back then were a little lackluster. That’s not to say they weren’t amazingly delicious — but they didn’t have much going on besides a white bun and some yellow mustard. But my friends, things have changed and hot dogs have gone gourmet.
Don’t believe us? Check all these mouthwatering examples out. We know what you’ll be having for dinner tonight.

Bulgogi dog
Are you kidding me? What wouldn’t I do for a hot dog topped with bulgogi and cheese?
BBQ baked bean cheese dog
America in a bun: hot dog, baked beans, barbecue sauce, bacon, onions and cheese. I think I’m in love.
Brazilian dog
From Gorgonzola to bacon, fried potatoes to quail egg, is there anything that’s not on this hot dog?
Bacon-wasabi dog
Bacon, wasabi mayo, slaw, my utter devotion — this hot dog has it all.
Double dog flavors
Frito-topped, or cheese and pepperoni? It’s almost impossible to decide which of these dogs looks more tasty.
Egg and caviar dog
If you want to make a hot dog really fancy, some soft scrambled eggs and caviar will definitely do the trick.
Mango dog
I never thought about putting mango salsa on a hot dog, but now that I have, I can’t stop drooling.
Lobster dog
Nothing says summer like a hot dog topped with lobster. At least, in a perfect world.
Onion ring dog
The best hot dogs always take place when the side dishes are stuffed right into the bun. Cheese sauce helps too!
Pulled pork hot dog
Pork topped with more pork (pulled, of course), cabbage slaw and mayo is like a little taste of heaven.
Natto dog
Fermented soybeans on a hot dog? When in Japan, I guess! And apparently it’s really good with mustard…
Pesto dog
This is one fancy-ass hot dog. I would totes need a glass of pinot grigio to complement that pesto and arugula.
Pastrami dog
Pastrami on a hot dog I can totally get behind. That’s a pretty outrageous squirt of mayo, though!
Steamed bun egg dog
Hot dogs on a steamed bun topped by scrambled eggs? I mean, you do you, my friend.
Steak dog
You’ve gotta love the chef that said, “What the hell? Let’s just throw some steak on the hot dog.”
