2 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 tablespoons baking powder
8 tablespoons cold butter
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2/3 cup buttermilk, plus more for brushing

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.2. Mix the dry ingredients.3. Cut the butter into small bits and blend into the flour mix.4. Add the buttermilk.5. Mix just until the batter is moist and soft. Dump onto a cookie sheet and press right on the sheet into a circle about 1/2-inch thick, just using your hands. 6. Cut into 8 slices and separate just a bit.7. Brush the tops with a bit of extra buttermilk and sprinkle with chunky sugar. 8. Bake for 25 minutes or until lightly golden-brown on top.
