5 Pumpkin spice recipes to get more fall flavor in your life (VIDEO)
Fall is hands down my favorite season of the year, and that’s mostly because of the food and flavors that accompany it. I love cinnamon, spice and everything nice, and I especially love that oh-so-trendy fall flavor that the world just can’t seem to get enough of: pumpkin spice!
Since the idea of pumpkin spice was introduced and became wildly popular, we’ve become accustomed to seeing this cinnamon-spicy flavor (or rather, mixture of flavors) on coffee shop menus across the country when the leaves start to turn, but I still wanted more. So I decided to hit the kitchen and try four insanely delicious pumpkin spice recipes and one fun body scrub to get as much of this flavor as humanly possible this fall. What could be better?

1. Pumpkin spice baked doughnut recipe
Yields 6 large doughnuts
Ingredients:
For the doughnuts
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1-1/2 teaspoons pumpkin spice
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1-1/4 cups buttermilk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the cinnamon-honey glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 4-5 tablespoons milk
Directions:
- Heat the oven to 350 degrees F.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, pumpkin spice and salt.
- In another bowl, combine the egg, buttermilk, melted butter and vanilla extract.
- Whisk the wet mixture together with the dry ingredients.
- Use nonstick cooking spray to grease a doughnut baking pan or a muffin tin. Spoon or pipe the batter into the pan.
- Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, until the center is cooked through and a toothpick comes out clean.
- While the doughnuts are baking, make the glaze.
- In a bowl, combine the powdered sugar, honey, cinnamon and milk. (Use less milk for a thicker glaze; use more milk for a thinner glaze.)
- Remove the pan from the oven, and place the doughnuts on a cooling rack over a baking sheet.
- Spoon the glaze over the doughnuts.
