Chocolate French toast bake recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf French bread, sliced, discard the ends
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup sliced almonds
  • 1 cup unwrapped Hershey’s Kisses milk chocolate
  • Confectioner’s sugar

Directions:

  1. Grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.
  2. Layer the sliced bread in the pan.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, sugar and cocoa powder.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread, cover, and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight.
  5. Remove the pan from the refrigerator.
  6. Heat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  7. Sprinkle the sliced almonds on top.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes, and then remove from the oven.
  9. Sprinkle the Hershey’s Kisses milk chocolate evenly over the top.
  10. Bake for an additional 10 minutes, until the custard is set and center is cooked through.
