How to Clean a Le Creuset Dutch Oven — One of Ina Garten’s Favorite Pieces of Cookware
Ina Garten is something of a culinary hero to us so when she mentions a brand she really loves, we rush to buy it. One of Ina Garten’s favorite cookware brands is Le Creuset, specifically their Dutch ovens. Dutch ovens are one of the most versatile kitchen tools you could own so it makes sense to invest in a quality one. Purchasing a Le Creuset Dutch oven is definitely an investment but if you take into account its quality and the fact that it will last for literal generations, the investment is worthwhile. Of course, the key to making your Le Creuset Dutch oven last a lifetime (or two) is proper care and the easiest way to care for it is to clean it correctly.

One of the other great things about a Le Creuset Dutch oven is that they are remarkably easy to clean. You can even put them right in the dishwasher! The only downside to popping it in your dishwasher, Le Creuset warns, is that the enamel finish can dull over time. Luckily, handwashing them is about as easy as placing them in the dishwasher. Here’s how to do it.

Instructions:
- Allow the Dutch oven to cool completely.
- Use a sponge and dish soap to wash the Dutch oven. If the pot has lots of dried-on food, you can leave the pot to soak a bit before scrubbing with the sponge.
- Dry the Dutch oven completely before putting it away.
See? It couldn’t be more simple. Now that you’ve learned to clean your Le Creuset Dutch Oven, how about learning to clean one of Ina’s other favorite kitchen must-haves: a Lodge cast-iron skillet.
