Oatmeal chocolate chip cookie mix
Recipe inspired by Hershey’s Kitchens
As much as you would like to, it isn’t possible to buy elaborate gifts for every person on your holiday list. But a sweet, handmade creation like this one will show them you care.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- 1/3 cup chopped walnuts
Directions:
- Layer the ingredients into a jar in the order listed.
- Create a tag with the following instructions: “Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Thoroughly combine 1/2 a cup softened butter, 1 egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract in a small bowl. Pour contents of the jar into a large bowl, and stir to distribute ingredients evenly. Add in wet ingredients, and combine. Drop spoonfuls onto a non-stick baking tray, leaving enough room for cookies to spread. Bake in the oven for 10–12 minutes — or until edges and bottoms are golden-brown. Transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool.”
- Attach the tag to the jar with a ribbon.
Note
To personalize this gift, include a special note for the person you’re giving it to. You can also add some extra colour by placing a square of fabric over the lid of the jar and securing it with the ribbon.
