Bring out the tissues… you’re single and it’s Valentine’s Day. Actually, scratch that. Bring on the fun and celebrate. This is my guide to conquering “Single Awareness Day.”
OK, yes I’ll admit I’m not a single girl, but I do have single girlfriends and believe me, I’ve been there… the tears, the empty feeling and the urge to tear apart every heart-shaped piece of merchandise in sight. Well, ladies, everything is going to change this year. Who needs a man? Grab a few of your closest friends, follow my tips below and you’ll be celebrating in no time.
Eat
Valentine’s Day is basically the one day a year where you can eat as much as you absolutely want and not feel guilty… especially if you’re consuming deliciously divine treats with your girlfriends. This holiday, think of the two best words in the entire world… gelato and cupcakes. Serve these two desserts during a night in with your closest girlfriends and you won’t even think about men — well, that’s the hope at least.
Talenti Gelato
If you’re not perusing the streets of Italy this Valentine’s Day, pick up literally the best gelato in the world, Talenti Gelato, because it will change your life. The all-natural ingredients mixed with supremely delicious flavors will be an instant hit. Plus, each package has 30 to 100 percent less fat than regular ice cream. Your girlfriends will be sure to love you when they hear that! Our favorite flavor? Cappuccino.
Baked by Melissa
This holiday, bring a taste of New York City to your home with the deliciously famous Baked by Melissa cupcakes. These culty treats will keep the mood sweet and soft during girls’ night in. (Meaning, nobody will be talking because they’ll be inhaling the cupcakes.) Order the Valentine’s Day versions to share with your girlfriends. Although, if you share too much, they may never leave.
Drink
What’s a girls’ night in without tasty (and strong) cocktails? When planning a night with your favorite girls, try creating a signature drink to start the Valentine’s Day celebrating off right. Try using a premium liquor to make the evening extra special. I caught up with celebrity chef and party planner, Travis London, to come up with the best lip-smacking “X-Rated” drink.
Travis’ X-Rated Be Mine Bubbly
Ingredients:
- 1 ounce X-Rated Fusion Liqueur
- 1 ounce SKYY Infusions Ginger
- 1 ounce ginger simple syrup
- Top with Champagne
Watch
Well we have food and drink covered, so what’s left in the perfect Valentine’s Day night? Romantic comedies! If you were planning on drowning yourself in sorrows on this night, why not do it with your girlfriends during a Reese Witherspoon movie? Here’s my list of the best V-Day-appropriate chick flicks.
- Sweet Home Alabama
- How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days
- Love Actually
- 10 Things I Hate About You
- Cruel Intentions
- When Harry Met Sally
- Pretty Woman
- Notting Hill
- Sex and the City
- Serendipity
Use this list and you will be the happiest single girl this V-Day. Do us a favor and leave your upcoming plans in our comments section. (Hopefully you’ll be doing this while eating a cupcake, drinking a signature cocktail and watching one of the best movies ever created.) Happy Valentine’s Day!
