Spring-styling your big day

Spring has sprung and we’re officially excited. If you’re tying the knot in the springtime, then fresh colors, florals and nature-inspired themes are the order of the day. Here’s how to style your spring wedding!

1

Work those spring colors

It’s official — according to Pantone, this year’s colors for spring are shades of dusk blue, emerald, jade, violet, blue, nectarine, dark blue, lemon, red, lime green and soft peach (Pantone has fancier names for them). Think fresh, bold, nature-inspired hues! Spring has a color for everyone, so check out the Pantone Fashion Color Report Spring 2013 to see which ones will work for your big day.

2

Get excited about florals

A great way to spring-ify your wedding is to put your maids in floral-printed gowns. If you’re not into printed fabrics, try picking gowns with floral embellishments or accessorize with flowered sashes. Don’t forget those springtime colors!

3

Incorporate spring motifs into your decor

Spring is all about abundance and new life — perfect for a wedding day. Think flowers (lots of them), fresh fruits and nature-inspired decorations. Personally, we’re loving bird motifs for this spring. After all, nothing says springtime like bird cake toppers, favors or bird-themed invitations. Use a bird-cage wishing well for a sophisticated take on the spring theme.

4

Your perfume (there’s the floral theme again)

For springtime perfumes, you can go fruity or floral depending on the smell that appeals to you. Remember — you’re looking for fresh, natural scents. Picking a perfume in a spring color also makes for a pretty detail.

5

Your dress

Now for the fun part — spring-inspired wedding dresses! Look for feminine shapes, lace, floaty fabrics and floral embellishments. Don’t be afraid to work spring colors into your gown. Dresses in soft peach are a great alternative to traditional white or ivory. If you’re looking for just a pop of color, accessorize with a sash in one of the springtime hues.
