A new way to find love may be right at your fingertips — on Facebook.

The social media hub has introduced the “ask” button next to a user’s relationship status. So if the guy or gal you’re eying isn’t forthcoming by listing that information, all you have to do is, well, ask!

Clicking on “ask” brings up a box that prompts you to ask about the user’s relationship status. It gives you space to type in a personal message, too.

The feature has been available on mobile and web platforms for other status information. But the relationship status “ask” button is new.

Not interested in a date? You can also use the “ask” feature to request a friend’s place of employment or other personal information.

“This feature provides an easy way for friends to ask you for information that’s not already on your profile,” a Facebook spokesperson told CNN. “For example, a friend could ask where you work or for your hometown. If you choose to answer, this information is then added to your profile. By default, only you and your friend can see it, and you also have the option of sharing it with others, too.”

Of course, if the user wanted his or her relationship status out there, he or she probably would have posted it. But it doesn’t hurt to ask, right?

We’re not sure… is it cool… or just creepy?
