Leave it to Disney to cash in on our desire to be a princess on our wedding day.
The super-smart brains at Disney know you’re looking for your Happily Ever After, so they offer fairy tale weddings that will pretty much cater to whatever you want.
Want to get married in the Cinderella Castle? They’ll make it happen. Want to get married while you eat a turkey leg and ride Space Mountain? Can’t say that’ll happen, but it’s worth it to ask and live your dreams.
Oh, and want to do it while you’re wearing a wedding dress inspired by the very women who inspired us to dream of our very own Prince Charming (or Beast, whatever)? You can, thanks to Disney’s line of princess wedding dresses.
We can’t hate on anyone who wants to wear these dresses, but they’re a little bland and really not all that inspired by the princess. Take Ariel’s dress.
Ariel dress
It’s beautiful with the strapless heart neckline and full tulle skirt, but nothing about it screams Little Mermaid to us. It just looks like any other dress from your hometown hole-in-the-wall bridal shop. If you’re going for Ariel, go all out with a seashell bra and thingamajig in your hair.
Belle dress
And sorry not sorry, we won’t accept a Belle-inspired dress in anything other than yellow. Doesn’t even matter how pretty it looks.
Cinderella dress
We can’t find that much wrong with Cinderella’s dress, other than it has way too much tulle. It definitely has that princess-y ball gown feel, right down to the sparkled bodice. Ditch the gauzy feel — and the blue sash thing — and we could imagine Cinderella in it.
Snow White dress
The Snow White-inspired gown is all Old Hollywood glamour and we want it, right down to the gorgeous cap sleeves and optional floor-length sheer shawl. Love the apple brooch, too.
So classy. In love. Need it now.
Jasmine dress
The Aladdin-inspired gown for Princess Jasmine is pretty, but the accessories are iffy for us on a cultural level. It’s not cool to appropriate Middle Eastern culture for fashion’s sake, much like it’s not appropriate to wear Native American headdresses.
Tiana dress
Tiana’s dress gets a big “meh.” Love the top with the one-sleeve, but the ruffled, tiered skirt has got to go. We’d even take a ton of taffeta and tulle over this, but it would look great with a straight-line skirt.
Rapunzel dress
The Tangled-inspired dress is just beautiful, right down to the ruffled flowers. Love the neckline (strapless, of course) and how the skirt flares about mid-thigh.
And to round if off, we have Sleeping Beauty’s dress.
Sleeping Beauty dress
Nailed it. This one looks like a fantasy wedding dress. Love it! We’re sold… just get rid of the flower applique stuff, thanks.
