Sorry, science says that hot guy probably has lazy sperm

You’d think that the most conventionally attractive guys on the planet have the strongest sperm. Evolution, survival of the fittest, right?

Nope, at least according to a new study by researchers at the Centre for Evolutionary Biology at the University of Australia in Crawley.

According to the results, the most masculine and handsome dudes have slightly lower sperm quality than the average run-of-the-mill guy. “To [the] best of our knowledge, this is the first demonstration of the phenomenon,” study co-author Dr. Jukka Kekalainen told the Huffington Post.

The whole problem with this? They have no idea why. For the study, researchers from Spain, Colombia and Australia studied the semen of 50 Caucasian men recruited by the University of Valencia. Then, their photos were shown to heterosexual men and women to gauge their attractiveness. The researchers also looked at the guys’ features — like the size of their eyes, the width of their cheekbones, etc. — and then measured that against the mobility of their sperm.

So… now what do we do? Nothing, really. “We would need more studies to demonstrate the causation and mechanism behind this finding… before giving any mating tips to the females,” Dr. Kekalainen added.

To us, this means we just have to log more hours between the sheets with our hot partners to test out this hypothesis… for “research,” of course. Only research.
