Irish hunks we can’t get enough of this St. Patrick’s Day

Some folks celebrate St. Patrick’s Day for the booze. Others might just love the colour green. If you’re still on the fence about this Irish holiday, these dreamy men just might have you celebrating with the best of ’em this year.

1

Colin Farrell

Given his incredible ability to put on a masterful American accent, it’s easy to forget that this Castleknock, Dublin, Ireland-born heartthrob is on loan to us from over the pond. But you need only watch an interview and hear Colin Farrell speaking with his natural accent to remember — and to maybe go a little weak in the knees.

2

Jonathan Rhys Meyers

He was cute and sweet as the caring coach in Bend It Like Beckham and then eerily handsome as Henry VIII in The Tudors. But before Jonathan Rhys Meyers was captivating audiences with his piercing blue eyes and mysterious demeanour, he was growing up in County Cork, Ireland.

3

Chris O’Dowd

Chris O’Dowd leaped onto the big screen and into our hearts when he played the quirky and adorable Officer Rhodes in the hit comedy Bridesmaids. This sweet funnyman hails from Sligo, Ireland, but you can spot him in the most recent season of HBO’s Girls to get into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit.

4

Michael Fassbender

Technically this unbelievably talented and handsome man was born in Germany, but thanks to his Irish mom, their family quickly moved to Killarney, County Kerry, in Southwest Ireland, where he was raised. You can appreciate his talent and good looks in X-Men: First Class, Shame or the recent Prometheus.

5

Stuart Townsend

Howth, County Dublin-born Stuart Townsend was often seen with his girlfriend and eventual fiancée, Charlize Theron, throughout their nine-year relationship. He might have become more of a household name if his role as Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy hadn’t been taken away due to the sudden decision that he looked too young. But you can still catch him in flicks like The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Queen of the Damned.

6

Cillian Murphy

Due to the incredibly evil nature of many of his roles, Cillian Murphy can seem a touch on the creepy side when in character. But when you take a step back to appreciate this Douglas, Cork, Ireland-born man, you realize he’s just a mind-blowingly brilliant actor with striking blue eyes you could get lost in for days. And there’s nothing wrong with that!
