New reports about Marijuana will change the way you see booze

A new report has found that marijuana — the drug many have called a “gateway drug” and long tried to keep from becoming legal — may actually not be nearly as bad for us as some other “drugs” most of us use legally and frequently. This includes alcohol and tobacco. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, indeed!

The new study published in Scientific Reports looked at 10 drugs. These drugs included marijuana, alcohol, tobacco, heroin, cocaine, ecstasy, methamphetamine, diazepam, amphetamine and methadone. Marijuana was the safest.

The fact is, this is what recreational users of pot have been saying for years. The reason it is safer is related to the risk of mortality. Whatever is considered a “normal” amount of the substance is the amount they looked at. In other words: Users of pot are less likely to die. That’s a good thing.

For health reasons, obviously we should all abstain from any and all recreational drugs. It’s a fact. No drinking. No smoking. No snorting or huffing. We all want to live long lives, right? That includes marijuana. Anyone telling you it’s good for you is obviously a liar. That said, if you had to do something, pot is better than alcohol.

This runs contrary to everything some people know about marijuana. But it doesn’t mean we all need to start doing it (simmer down!). It’s still bad for you. It’s just less bad for you than, say, crack. Is that a good thing?

Still, for those who smoke, this is good news. And let’s also recall that marijuana has medical implications as well. So good PR for pot means more cancer patients will get their anti-nausea meds and more materials can be made of hemp. These are all good things.

Research: It changes minds.

Does this change anything for you?
