Paramedic proposes to woman he saved from domestic violence stabbing (VIDEO)

Man rescues woman from awful domestic violence situation. Man and woman fall in love. Man proposes to woman in the middle of a baseball game.

It sounds like a plot to a movie, but it’s a touching — and super romantic — real-life story for one Florida couple.

Cameron Hill, a paramedic, was one of the first responders to a 911 call on Jan. 24, 2012. The victim, 20-year-old Melissa Dohme, met her ex-boyfriend in Clearwater, Florida, that night for what was supposed to be a friendly conversation, according to the Tampa Bay Times. Instead, he gave her a hug and stabbed her 32 times with a pocket knife. She nearly died, but thanks to the quick work of Hill she survived.

The pair met again later that year when she gave a survivor speech at her church. They hugged and Dohme said she “had this feeling about him.” Hill felt the same way and their relationship blossomed until Monday when the petite blonde ran out to the pitcher’s mound to throw the first pitch in front of 10,000 fans at the Tampa Bay Devil Rays game. A mystery man in a blue jacket ran out to give her the ball to throw the first pitch inked with a special message: Will you marry me?

And she happily said yes.

“When I look back on that night, I can’t think of it as all bad anymore because I met Cameron,” she told the Times in 2013 of the stabbing. “He’s the one I’ve been waiting for. My fairy tale.”
