After hitting the news all over the world for being exposed as a cheater, Matty Steven from Wythenshawe in Manchester has spoken up for the first time.

He found himself at the centre of an online scandal earlier this week after 22-year-old Pippa McKinney from Stockport tried to track him down, after they shared a kiss — but found Steven’s girlfriend instead.
After McKinney met Steven in the AXM club in Manchester city centre she took “down his number wrong” so turned to Facebook to find him, posting: “Met this guy last night absolutely stunning, took his number down wrong but would love to get to see him again! He’s from Whythenshaw and is called matt , help anyone haha??” (sic)
Unfortunately one of the many people who saw McKinney’s post was Emily Grant, who just happens to be the girlfriend of the very man McKinney was trying to track down.

Or is she? Using the immortal words of Ross Geller from Friends, Steven has broken his silence to say that he and Grant were “on a break.”
“Me and Emily had been together for two years but had gone on a break,” Steven told the Manchester Evening News. “So I do what most lads would do and went on a lads’ night out. We were drinking and got chatting to some girls. Yes we had a quick kiss but it was a drunken mistake. Everyone is making out like I was in a relationship, but I wasn’t. If I was it would have been cheating, but I’m not a cheat and don’t think I’ve done anything wrong.”
He also posted on Facebook: “This has gone way past a joke I have tried to stay quiet but I think it’s about time people get my side… The truth! How many times has this story changed!? Fame seeker, a lier (sic) and a very strange girl!! This is a major setup! Watch this space! #?shameforfame” (sic)
Unsurprisingly McKinney’s version of events is a little different. She told MailOnline: “Within the first hour of me posting the pic someone tagged a name I didn’t recognise. I thought ‘who is this’ and clicked on her profile, and that’s when I saw him in [Emily Grant’s] cover photo. I felt so stupid. I was gutted for myself, gutted for her and gutted for him. His girlfriend sent me a message asking exactly what had happened so I told her. She was really nice and I felt really bad for her. I feel like a bit of an idiot because it has caused a riot. I messaged Matty and he told me to take the photo down and said he knew he had f**** up. He told me he didn’t remember anything.”
What can we learn from all this? Basically don’t let anyone take your photo on a night out if you’re not happy for it to be splashed across websites from here to the States. It seems a little crazy that a young guy kissing a girl in a nightclub is such a hot topic. Am I alone in feeling a little sorry for him?
