This. Is. Awesome!
An April Fool’s Day joke by Nicole DeBoom, founder of Skirt Sports, introduced fans to the “Trap Door Skirt,” a running skirt that made it easier for female runners to go to the bathroom during races or long runs, especially for popping a squat behind a tree.
But fans loved the idea and now it’s a real product.

“Women have been asking me to design products that can easily fit a pad or make going to the bathroom more convenient,” DeBoom told Women’s Running. “After the response from my April Fool’s Day joke, we literally heard from thousands of women, I decided I had to do it!”
The Gotta Go Running Skirt — currently in crowdfunding on Kickstarter — features a “trap door” flap held in place by Velcro that allows women to easily and discreetly use the bathroom without peeling off sweaty shorts.
“I’m totally serious. We are literally talking about crotches and finding ways to analyze and measure certain areas, areas that aren’t usually analyzed,” DeBoom said of the research and development of the new shorts. “We’re getting up close and personal!”

It’s a simple, but completely ingenious, idea that runners are quickly latching on to.
“We got our first 100+ backers in the first couple days and realized that people from around the world are finding us, which is really cool,” DeBoom said of the Kickstarter campaign. “Apparently the women Down Under are hankering for a quick pee opportunity — or maybe they’re looking for other ‘easy access’ uses?!”
The campaign has raised nearly $22,000 in just a few days, and a pledge of $65 will get you a pair when they’re released next year. Will it make running that marathon any easier? No, but it’ll make those pit stops go a lot more smoothly.
