6 Ways to use heat during sex that have nothing to do with candles

If things have gotten somewhat routine in the bedroom with your significant other, literally raising the temperature can easily reignite the spark.

Playing with how your bodies react to different physical sensations is always a fun game. You may have gotten frisky with an ice cube before, but for some reason, heat isn’t usually explored. However, according to biopsychologist Mark S. Blumberg, Ph.D., author of Body Heat, it’s one of the most effective ways to rev things up.

“Diverse sensations dramatically increase arousal, heighten skin sensitivity, and release pleasure-fueling endorphins,” Blumberg told Cosmo. And specifically adding heat increases blood flow, which makes skin more receptive to stimulation. Here are several ways you can physically heat things up and play around with this phenomenon.

1. Use your breath in all the right places

Sounds pretty simple, right? According to Stella Resnick, Ph.D., author of The Pleasure Zone, using the warmth from your own breath can be enough to heighten his/her skin sensitivity. This will drive your partner wild, especially if you do it on particularly erogenous zones, like earlobes, neck and the crease between their torso and legs.

2. Use the hot tea trick

Sexologist Ph.D. Jessica O’Reilly suggests using some hot (but not too hot) tea to heat up with your guy. Just before you go down on him, take a sip of tea and swallow. Your mouth will be nice and warm, which will increase the blood flow. After he’s warmed up (literally), take another sip of the tea, but this time hold some of the liquid in your mouth, then return to him. It will drive him wild, even if you spill some in the process.

3. Try a warm towel

It feels great on your face and hands when they give it to you on a plane, imagine how much better it feels on your most sensitive areas. Sex educator Lou Paget, author of The Great Lover Playbook, recommends warming up a wet cloth in the microwave for 15 seconds, then gently sliding it up and down your man. Alternatively, it works for women, too. And once it cools down a bit, you can even insert it partly inside. This will guarantee that things stay hot a lot longer than that cloth does.

4. Use a hot toy

According to Dr. O’Reilly, you can also heat up a toy by dipping it in warm water just before use. “The genitals can be highly reactive to temperature,” she says. You can also try moving it back and forth between cold and hot water to keep your partner on their toes.

5. Warm your hands up before oral

No doubt your guy loves it when you go down on him, but what if you could make your mouth feel twice as deep? Dr. O’Reilly said, “The average temperature in your mouth is 98.2 degrees Fahrenheit and at room temperature, your hands likely average 87 degrees, so if you’re combining them during oral (e.g., you want to use your hands as an extension of your mouth to give a deeper blow job), warm up your hands under hot water first.”

6. Heat the G spot

Once you’re all oiled up and ready to do the deed, take a little warming lube and concentrate on his G spot, which is the triangular region between the penis and anus. Educator and author of Hot Monogamy Pat Love swears by it.
