Whenever anyone tries to snap a photo of me, my first reaction is always to hide behind my hair or cover my face with my hands — so of course, I can totally relate to photographer Mikaël Theimer’s lighthearted new series of photos, documenting his girlfriend’s attempts to hide from his camera. The Montreal-based photographer shared several photos of camera-shy muse Marion Munoz, and they beautifully capture realistic moments of romance.

“I love my girlfriend, and I’m a photographer, so I love to take pictures of my girlfriend, right? Problem is, she hates it when I do: Whenever I raise my camera and point it to her, she finds a way to hide her face,” writes Theimer in his post on BoredPanda. He uploaded photos of himself “trying to get a good shot of [his] girlfriend. And failing at it” to the site, and since then the photos have gone viral.
And I certainly hope so. Because the photos of Marion hiding her face put a unique spin on traditional portrait-style photos, making you want to know more about the mysterious woman behind the books/wallets/hair/hands. Take a look. You can also view Theimer’s work on his Facebook page and website.
