Photographer shares beautiful photos of his camera-shy girlfriend

Whenever anyone tries to snap a photo of me, my first reaction is always to hide behind my hair or cover my face with my hands — so of course, I can totally relate to photographer Mikaël Theimer’s lighthearted new series of photos, documenting his girlfriend’s attempts to hide from his camera. The Montreal-based photographer shared several photos of camera-shy muse Marion Munoz, and they beautifully capture realistic moments of romance

“I love my girlfriend, and I’m a photographer, so I love to take pictures of my girlfriend, right? Problem is, she hates it when I do: Whenever I raise my camera and point it to her, she finds a way to hide her face,” writes Theimer in his post on BoredPanda. He uploaded photos of himself “trying to get a good shot of [his] girlfriend. And failing at it” to the site, and since then the photos have gone viral.

Theimer tells SheKnows Canadathat Marion has had mixed feelings about the popularity of the series: “… she pretty much just finds it weird that pictures of her are catching so many people’s attention.” However, he says she’s enjoyed the fact that people have viewed the couple’s story as a romantic one. “And of course she’s very happy about all the interest this has generated for my work as a photographer,” adds Theimer.

“She’s also a bit worried,” he jokes, “because this means I’m going to try and take pictures of her more often now. I keep teasing her about it and I must say I’m really looking forward to taking the next one in the series. Because there definitely will be more coming!”

And I certainly hope so. Because the photos of Marion hiding her face put a unique spin on traditional portrait-style photos, making you want to know more about the mysterious woman behind the books/wallets/hair/hands. Take a look. You can also view Theimer’s work on his Facebook page and website.
