Prince Harry had an HIV test live on Facebook because he really is that awesome

As if we couldn’t love Prince Harry any more, he’s shown once again what a top fella he is by getting an HIV test live on the royal family’s Facebook page.

A post on the page read, “Prince Harry believes until everyone feels relaxed about taking HIV tests — whether from high risk groups or not — then tackling the stigma and fear surrounding HIV testing will continue to allow the virus to win.”

At a London clinic, Prince Harry showed how simple it is to take the test: The whole process — taking the test and learning the results — took less than four minutes. After getting the results (negative), he urged “everyone” to get tested, asking, “Why wouldn’t you? Whether you’re a man, woman, gay, straight, black, white, whatever, even ginger, why wouldn’t you come and have a test?”

The video has gone down a storm on social media, with hundreds of people leaving comments praising the prince for his commitment to raising awareness of the importance of HIV testing. It comes ahead of his trip to Durban, South Africa, next week to attend the 21st International AIDS Conference.

According to the World Health Organization, around 36.7 million people were living with HIV worldwide at the end of 2015, and 17 million people were on antiretroviral therapy.

Not only a superb ambassador for HIV/AIDS awareness, Prince Harry is also proving himself to be a credit to the royal family and the whole of the U.K. Like his big brother Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton, he’s managed to retain the dignity expected of a royal while coming across as an everyday guy who’s not scared to get his hands dirty or fight for a cause he feels passionate about.

In the health arena, William, Harry and Kate have also established themselves as mental health champions, with a particular emphasis on the importance of children’s mental health. There’s no doubt that by using their influence and profile to draw attention to important health issues, they are helping to educate, break down the stigma and provide support to those going through difficult times.

Prince Harry is Patron of Sentebale, which supports orphans and vulnerable children, many of whom are affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
