Warmer weather, longer days, school is out — signs are everywhere that summer has arrived and is in full swing. Along with planning vacations, pool days and fun activities, I make sure sun safety is a priority, too. I’m always on the hunt for a good deal. Here are my favorite products and ways to save this summer.
1. Look for natural sunscreens
Sunscreen is No. 1 when it comes to protecting yourself from the sun’s rays. When going outside, I want to be protected from both types of UV rays (UVA and UVB), so I’m sure to look for a product that says broad-spectrum protection to guarantee all-around protection. If you, like me, are conscious of your impact on the environment, look for natural formulas, such as Alba Botanica Natural Very Emollient Sunscreen from Pure Formulas.

2. Look for UPF clothing
Although staying in the shade is a great way to avoid the sun, you don’t want to feel like you’re hiding away from all of the activities and fun going on. Ultraviolet Protection Factor clothing, which indicates how much of the sun’s UV radiation is absorbed, is a good way to stay protected. I really enjoy the UPF tops from Athleta, which you can save some serious money on.

3. Have skin soothers on hand
For the times the sun still burns us or when we completely forget the sunscreen (guilty!) and are now feeling the repercussions, stock up on cooling aloe vera gel to relieve and repair skin faster. Products such as Walgreens Sunburn Relief Liquid Spray as well as home remedies such as oatmeal or baking soda work fast to heal and soothe your skin.
4.Get protective sunglasses
Protecting your vision from the sun is just as important as protecting your skin. Plus, sunglasses are a fun way to accessorize your look! Glasses.com has a wide variety of sunglasses to shop, from classic Ray-Bans to more daring styles. You can also get polarized prescription sunglasses, which are good for redirecting the sun’s glare and improving vision in sunlight.
