Khloé Kardashian just got super-sassy with her tweet about body image

When the Kardashians were on the rise, Khloé Kardashian was the funny one. That was the nice way for people to say she wasn’t the attractive one. No, No, — that’s Kim’s job. Just imagine being part of a family who thrives off their image in a city that values only one kind of image.

Kardashian wrote on her website in April, “My body weight will always be something that I’ll struggle with for the rest of my life, but I’m finally in a good place and learning to love me for me, and not somebody else’s standards.” Cue cheers everywhere!

But now, in a time when people are praised for loving every pound, Kardashian is getting called out for losing them. She’s lost 40 pounds and seems to be more comfortable with flaunting her body than ever. That didn’t stop Radar from crying “eating disorder.” You gain weight, you’re fat. You lose it, you must have an eating disorder. We can’t win.

Weight loss is not a black and white, right or wrong issue. It’s different for everyone.

Did Kardashian need to lose weight? No. But every sign points to the fact that the only person she’s doing it for is herself and that’s all the really matters.

Last year, Kardashian told Cosmo UK, “On my Instagram page people comment saying, ‘I liked you better when you were bigger’ and I think, ‘Thank God I don’t live my life for other people because I’d be in a constant tug-of-war.'”

Melissa McCarthy faced a similar criticism when she lost weight in 2015, and plus-size model Ashley Graham recently spoke out about the same issue when accused of abandoning her body-positive stance. But there’s no rule book that says body positivity means “never lose weight.” And just because you lose weight doesn’t mean you have unhealthy eating habits. Everyone has to decide what’s right for their body on any given day, and there’s really only one person who can dictate that.

Telling someone they shouldn’t be proud of how they look — be it skinny, fat, chubby, round, long, purple or rainbow — is the real anti body-positive move, folks. Think before your criticize.
