Jennifer Aniston Has Some Strong Words for Body-Shamers

Jennifer Aniston is so over what anyone thinks of her, but doesn’t think the criticism is going to stop anytime soon, she told Vogue in a recent interview.

“I think the problem is the tabloids and the gossip columns taking the human body and putting it in a category,” Aniston recently told Vogue. “They’re either fat-shaming, or body-shaming, or childless-shaming.”

And trust her — she’s heard it all after being in the public eye since the ‘90s. What doesn’t make sense to her is the tendency to focus on celebrities’ faults.

“It’s a weird obsession that people have and I don’t understand exactly why they need to take people who are out there to entertain you, and rip them apart and bully them?” she told Vogue.

And this isn’t the first time Aniston is hitting back. Last year, she published an op-ed in The Huffington Post addressing the longtime speculation and concern over what’s going on in her womb.

“For the record, I am not pregnant. What I am is fed up. I’m fed up with the sport-like scrutiny and body shaming that occurs daily under the guise of ‘journalism,’ the ‘First Amendment’ and ‘celebrity news,’” she wrote.

Aniston addressed last year’s powerful statement in the Vogue interview as well. “I couldn’t hear this narrative anymore about being pregnant or not pregnant; you have no idea what is going on personally in our lives and why that is or is not happening and it feels … In my own brain, I’ve shifted my perspective, so who gives a shit?!”

Despite acknowledging how pointless body-shaming is, Aniston admitted that it’s hard for her to deal with and has some words of encouragement for those who face the same criticism.

“If you’re going to walk out and have your nipples showing, or your belly is a little bloated, or you’re not at the weight you want to be — you are perfect no matter what you are and no matter where you are and who cares!”

Jennifer, we couldn’t agree more.
