At SheKnows, we love our vibrators. They are easy to use, discreet and don’t talk back — plus, they bring most of us one hell of an orgasm. But did you know vibrators can be used to clear up chest conditions? Well, according to one mom, they can: In a now-viral Facebook post, an unnamed woman explained that her vibrator helped clear up her baby’s cold.
The post, shared by breast-pump manufacturer Melons and Cuties, explained how. “Our customer shares her remedy for chest congestion!! Use on baby’s back while sitting in a steamy bathroom.” The hack was shared along with an image of the baby lying down with the vibe placed along the little one’s spine.
It is important to note that none of us at have tried this particular treatment and we haven’t run it by a pediatrician; however, it sounds genius, and as Melons and Cuties went on to note, it makes a lot of sense. Similar treatments have been used by doctors and in hospitals. “Note that many hospitals and respiratory therapists use these in the treatment of respiratory issues on the BACK in hospital settings. It is common practice.”
And Very Well agrees: Vibration is a regularly used physiotherapy technique.
As for the post, comments on the thread ranged from hilarious — “no thanks, not wasting my batteries on the child” and “I just bought three!” — to life-changing: “this works!”
Now, if you don’t have a vibrator, Livestrong explains that you can use manual percussion, or tapping, to clear up chest congestion, but we imagine the former works more quickly. Plus, this gives you a good excuse to buy a vibrator.
So go forth and shop, for Baby’s health depends on it.
