Fitness video reviews – Kathy Smith’s latin rhythm workout

Want to work out but hate going to the gym? Well here’s a video to help you work out at home. Writer Cheri Sicard reviews Kathy Smith’s Latin Rhythm Workout.

Quick and easy
Length: About 45 Minutes
Level: Beginner
Extra equipment needed: None
Fitness focus: Aerobics

This video consists of two 20-minute workouts that can be done separately or put together for a longer workout. You’ll also get a quick warm-up and cool-down and a very little bit of stretching.

You can always count on Kathy Smith to give simple, easy to understand beginner instruction and this tape is no exception. Shot at Los Angeles’ Conga Room, Kathy and her crew go through two mini workouts that can easily be done together.

The first workout focuses on the simple footwork of the merengue, salsa and cha-cha. The second 20 minute workout takes those basic steps a bit further, putting them into a simple dance/exercise routine with easy choreography. The outstanding live salsa music provides plenty of inspiration to keep moving. This is one workout soundtrack you won’t mind listening to (somewhat of a rarity).

A big bonus of this tape is that you are learning practical moves you can actually take out onto the dance floor at nightclubs, weddings, parties and anywhere else there’s dancing. A short extra segment after the workouts will teach you and your significant other how to put the basic steps learned during the workout into a partner’s dance. Don’t be afraid to take your new dance steps out on the town. Dancing is great fun and it still counts as a workout, whether you do it at home or at a dance club.
