Lululemon has impressed us (and millions of other shoppers) with their flattering and super-soft workout and athleisure gear. So when we heard the brand was developing its first sports bra designed for breast surgery patients, including those who have undergone a mastectomy, we were eager to see how it performed. Well, the first reviews are in for the brand’s Super-Soft Adjustable Front-Wrap Bra, and it looks like people are loving it.
According to Lululemon, the brand designed this bra to be “adjustable” and “prosthetic-friendly,” collaborating directly with people who’ve undergone breast surgery. Sun Choe, chief product officer at Lulu and a breast cancer survivor, told Women’s Health that the survivors they spoke to wanted “to feel normal and attractive still,” which many found tough with the functional but not-as-flattering mastectomy bras currently available.
With that in mind, the Lululemon team focused on designing a bra that was super-soft, with strategically-placed seams that wouldn’t irritate healing scars. The bra is also adjustable in three places — under the band, on the straps, and in the back — because breast size and shape can continue to change post-surgery. This sports bra also includes invisible pocket openings under the front wrap layers, where you can insert a bra cup or prosthetic.
The result is a sleek, comfortable, light-support bra that early reviewers are already loving.
“I had a unilateral mastectomy just over two years ago and I have purchased 22 different bras before trying this one,” wrote one shopper. “Now I am buying two more of these. At six feet tall, the straps are long enough so it doesn’t hike up, the hidden pocket ensures my prosthetic won’t bulge out of the top or move around, and the band is extremely comfortable. It doesn’t even look like I’ve had a mastectomy. Thank you so much. I finally feel normal again!”
Another shopper said they were “thrilled” to find “a modern, well-fitting mastectomy bra that’s comfortable — a first in 20 years!” They added, “My size 5 forms fit in the size small bra perfectly.”
The Super-Soft Adjustable Front-Wrap Bra is currently available in three colorways: Purple Ash, Meadowsweet Pink, and classic black.
