How to sext without sounding like a total idiot

Sexting may be the sign of our times, but that doesn’t mean any of us are any good at it. If you’ve never sent a dirty message or received the proverbial dick pic, you might feel pretty awkward when the text bubbles start getting hot and heavy.

Like you, we’re still pretty confused about the whole sexting thing, even after giving it a few tries. We decided to ask Winq, a social polling app for millennials, for more insight on what was really going on text-to-text, and here’s what they said, based on the results of a survey they created just for us:

  • 82 percent of Winq users sext their significant others regularly.
  • Of the 18 percent that don’t sext their partner regularly, they say the main reason is because they feel uncomfortable/don’t know what to say.
  • Of those who do sext, about 70 percent of them pretty much always include some sort of nude selfie/send a quick snapchat.

When sexting, Winq users were most likely to say what they wanted done to them or what they would do to their partner, provide a preview of what was to come, tease or compliment.
