4 Ways to keep your marriage fresh

If your marriage is in a bit of a rut, don’t blame your partner. Instead take action to add excitement and rediscover the love you have for each other.

Ask what your spouse needs

Don’t be resentful about what you aren’t getting from your partner. Instead ask about your partner’s needs and what they have been missing. This will get the discussion going and you can then communicate about your own needs. In order to avoid any hurt feelings, start with a compliment before talking about the things that are wrong.

Make a plan together

Are you not having enough couple time? Is sex too infrequent or boring? Make a plan together about what you can do to fix things. You may need to wake up earlier to have time for sex, shop for sex toys online together, or plan a weekend getaway to take a break from the pressures of work.

Turn toward your partner

When you have problems in your marriage, learn to turn toward your partner, not away. You can’t fix a problem if you are only discussing it with people outside your relationship. Oftentimes people end up cheating because they turn to someone outside their marriage instead of their spouse to talk about their problems and concerns.

Get out and do something

You might not be bored with your partner, but you may be leading a boring life. If you spend all your evenings at home and your weekends in town, make any effort to get out and do something different. For example, hiking or biking together, even locally, is a great way to enjoy each other’s company and get some exercise too.
