Elizabeth Edwards has halted her cancer treatments after the disease spread to her liver. Read on to see how Elizabeth Edwards is living the final days of her live with love, class and grace.
Elizabeth Edwards has dealt with the tumultuous last few years of her life with grace and class. Her husband, former Senator and U.S. Presidential candidate John Edwards, stepped out on their marriage and fathered a child with the other woman while she was battling a serious case of breast cancer.
Did she take every opportunity to talk to the press? No. Did she publicly speak ill of her estranged husband? No. Instead, she took the high road — even if many women would have supported a public thrashing of her cheating husband.
Elizabeth Edwards cancer: Not fair
So, it hardly seems fair that the always-classy Edwards is now in the last stages of her fight with cancer. She revealed yesterday that her doctors advised her to stop cancer treatments since the disease had spread to her liver.
Though now gravely ill, Edwards took to her Facebook page to post a few positive and poignant words.
“The days of our lives, for all of us, are numbered. We know that. And yes, there are certainly times when we aren’t able to muster as much strength and patience as we would like. It’s called being human. But I have found that in the simple act of living with hope, and in the daily effort to have a positive impact in the world, the days I do have are made all the more meaningful and precious. And for that I am gratefull,” she wrote.
Elizabeth Edwards: Resting comfortably
Edwards is now resting comfortably in her South Carolina home, according to reports. Her children are said to be by her side, as is John Edwards.
It’s not known how much time she has left, but we hope her last days are filled with love and life — it’s all we can ask for such a wonderful woman.
