3 Reasons it’s good to be single around the holidays

Thanksgiving has passed and Christmas will be here before you know it. Being single around this time of year is often seen as something to feel bad about, but we’re here to tell you otherwise. Flying solo during the festive season has some serious advantages and we’ve put together the top three. Being single over the holidays is better than you think. Read on to find out why.

You’ll save money

Being attached this time of year usually means having to reach deep into your pockets to not only buy for your guy, but also his parents, siblings and any of his close friends or other relatives you might need to pick up wine or other small gifts for. Tackling the season solo means you can either save or treat yourself to something that might normally be outside your budget. A spa treatment, perhaps? Or how about treating your BFFs to holiday cocktails on you? The opportunities are endless when you don’t have a gift list longer than Santa’s to worry about.

You’ll have fewer obligations

We all know how busy the holidays get. Between work functions and endless family dinners, there’s barely enough time to breathe, let alone do anything that you want to do. All of these obligations double if you’re one half of a couple. Not only do you have to deal with your own office parties and family dinners, but you need to go to his, too. While the holidays are a time for togetherness and being in the thick of seasonal chaos is par for the Christmas course, there is something to be said about having some time to yourself amidst the mayhem. Being single for the holiday season means you have more freedom to do whatever makes you happy – watching cheesy movies, spending more time with your own family (as opposed to someone’s else’s), getting together with friends or simply relaxing with a good book and a mug of peppermint hot chocolate.

You can flirt at holiday parties

One of the most fun parts about being unattached over the holidays is the freedom to flirt! Parties and festive get-togethers abound during the Christmas season and some of them are full of nice, good looking guys – not to mention mistletoe. Instead of moping because you don’t have a holiday date or are feeling sorry for your solo self, turn on the charm, mingle, dance and see who you meet. If you’re open to new opportunities and meeting new people, all those parties will be a lot more fun. Besides, you never know who you might meet up with under that mistletoe.
