If Livin’ La Vida Loca makes it almost impossible to stay in shape, thankfully, there’s an app for that. For busy women on the go who barely have time to squeeze in a workout, these handy apps can help you track your health and fitness all day long.
1. adidas Train & Run miCoach
There are a lot of apps out there that keep track of your walking and running, but miCoach is our favourite of the bunch. It logs your distance, calorie burn, pace and time, along with some real-time voice coaching that turns your smartphone into your own personal trainer. You can set the program to let you know these details as frequently as you wish, so it’s easy to keep an eye on your progress along the way. The program is also easy to pause and restart, so you don’t have to worry about traffic lights throwing off your records. And at the end of each workout, you can check your overall effort by analyzing your zone training using colored route tracking. As of 2015, adidas made a major update to the app so that it now syncs up to the Fit Smart band with a built-in heart rate monitor.
Available:iTunes, Android
Users say: “Love it, it’s so user-friendly. Love the coach, but the app still lets you track your wild ‘n free runs. I like the voice, you guys… It sounds so patient. Just wanted to give the app a try, and it is a keeper!”

2. Jillian Michaels’ Slim-Down Solution
Jillian Michaels is one tough trainer, and as a woman who was once overweight, she knows first-hand how to get your body to the fitness level you desire. So naturally, having her advice with you wherever you go is a pretty great tool to have at your disposal. The Jillian Michaels Slim-Down Solution app offers daily tips from the celebrity trainer herself as well as healthy recipes, strength-training exercises, fitness plans, meal plans and more. You can get some of the features free of charge, and if you like what you see, upgrade to the full version for $4.
Available:iTunes, Android
Users say: “Like having personal coach: I like this app because Jillian demonstrates each exercise, and I can use my phone to watch while I am doing her circuit training. I like her program for food journaling. Shows complete break down of amount of calories, carbs, vitamin, fats, sugars, cholesterol, fiber of foods. You can input foods you prefer into your database. I like this much better than… others I have tried.”

3. MyNetDiary
If weight loss is your goal, MyNetDiary can help you out. You can use it to keep track of your exercises and calorie burn as well as your food intake and nutrition. The program lets you input your current weight and your goal weight, and then calculates the calorie consumption and exercise levels you should aim for to get there. It’s a great way to keep track of your weight, measurements, meals, hydration, vitamins, exercises and so much more. Talk about helpful!
Users say: “I love this app. I’ve used it in the past and was able to lose 16 pounds through the course of six months. At that time, I was in school, and it was really hard for me to go to the gym or make my own lunches before heading out the door. This app is a lifesaver. I was able to keep track of my sodium intake, exercise and calories. This app has everything you need to keep track of all that good stuff. Be honest with documenting your daily activities and consumption, and you’ll be able to recognize your weaknesses and strengths. Since I last used it, it’s changed, but it has new features that give you more insight for you to understand what you are doing that is healthy versus what’s not. It also guides you on how to better reach your goals, which I love.”
