4 Signs she’s not a real friend

If you’re friends with someone who you’re not sure is genuine, we have some signs she might not be a real friend.

All your conversations are one-sided

Friendships are give and take and should have a good balance. You talk, she listens. She talks, you listen. Seems simple enough but some people can’t handle not having the spotlight and always seem to be the ones talking. If you’re friends with someone who never lets you get a word in edgewise, it could mean she is less of a friend than you thought.

She isn’t reliable

We all have to cancel plans now and again or accidently double book, but if someone is always bailing on plans, not calling when they say they’re going to or otherwise being totally unreliable, that’s a sign of disrespect. If you care about someone, you’re going to make an effort to come through.

She makes you feel bad about yourself

Real friends want the best for you and even though they might not agree with all your choices or see everything the way you do, they still want you to be happy. Someone who is full of back-handed compliments, outright put-downs and comments that make you feel embarrassed or uncomfortable is not a real friend. She’s likely just trying to make herself feel better at your expense, which isn’t good friend behavior.

It’s all about her

We all rely on our friends to help get us through tough times (breakups, bad days, work problems), but if your so-called friend never has time to lend you support because she’s always caught up in her own drama, she might not be the person you thought she was. Good friends find time to be there for the people they care about, not gloss over other people’s problems so they can talk more about themselves.
